Rebellious Clay

Have you ever worked clay on a pottery wheel?
I have.
The key thing about the pottery making process is the potter is the one in control, creating a useful vessel with the clay with their hands.
The clay isn't in control. It can only sit quietly on the wheel.
What might a potter do with a lump of clay that suddenly stood up, insisted it could decide it's own destiny, then hopped off the wheel  and ran off?
If you were the potter, what would you do?

(picture is a broken clay pot I use as garden art among pink shamrocks.)
